The Trojans ‘mowed down’ the competition with 200 points and improved to 10-0 after three meets with the victory. Madisonville finished a distant second with 106 points.
“Everyone felt good and ready and we were pumped-up to run against Paducah Tilghman,” noted WC head coach Jeff Hollamon. “But Tilghman didn’t show up so we decided to take out our frustrations on those who did show.”
Webster’s Brennan Dunville had a ‘huge’ day, scoring 36 individual points with one first-place finish and three second-place finishes. Jay Clary also had a great day for the Trojans, winning the long jump and triple jump as well as running a leg on the victorious 800-meter relay team. He also was part of the second-place 400-meter relay team.
Webster went 1-2 in the pole vault with Adam Richmond winning the event at 9’-6”. Ryan Nall was second at 9’-1”. Robert Pendleton topped the field in the 800-meter and Jason McElroy blew-away the competition in the 300-meter hurdles, winning by over 10 seconds. Derrick Stone was second in the shot put and third in the discus while Jim Ashby was second in the discus and fifth in the shot.
“Everyone contributed from seniors to our eighth graders running in freshmen events. All the kids really wanted to run today,” Hollamon said.
The Lady Trojans, missing the talents of senior stars Christina Dacy and Sara Whitledge, placed third in the event. Dacy has a hamstring pull while Whitledge sufferend a minor knee injury.
Samantha Nance was the star of the day for the WC girls, winning the discus with a personal best throw of 100’-9”. Ashlee Steele topped the field in the shot put and was third in the discus.
Webster jumps right into the ‘meat’ of its schedule with trip to the Caldwell County Invitational on Friday and then the annual Roy Cherry Invitational at WCHS on May 12.
