WC ABA finishes season with state championship win
Final game against Maroons ends in exciting double-OT

Webster County’s ABA junior varsity all-stars finished their season in style, winning the State Championship last weekend in Hopkins County.

Webster won it’s opener Friday night in easy fashion, topping Todd County 38-16.

Aleshia Stone, Hilary Ford and Tyler McCulloch paced a balanced scoring attack with six points each. Taylor Berry and Brooke Ross finished with four points apiece while Kolbi Edens and Heather Eblen added three points. Jessica Schindley, Kaylyn Winders and Jessica White completed the scoring with two points each.

Hopkinsville surprised the Webster girls in Saturday’s opener, running away with a 32-20 victory. Taylor Berry and Hailey Ford scored four points each while Brooke Ross and Kolbi Edens added three points. Jessica Schindley and Hilary Ford scored two points apiece followed by one point from Tyler McCulloch and Hayleigh Dame.

Webster jumped right back on the winning track with an easy 35-25 victory over Trigg County.

Heather Eblen poured in a game-high 14 points followed by four points each from Taylor Berry and Aleshia Stone. Kolbie Edens, Hailey Ford, Kaylyn Winders, Tyler McCulloch, Jessica White, Jessica Schindley all scored two points while Hayleigh Dame added one point.

Webster pounded Hopkins County Central 39-11 in Saturday’s final game. Brooke Ross and Aleshia Stone were both in double figures with 10 points each. Heather Eblen added eight points while Kolbi Edens finished with four. Jessica Schindley, Hailey Ford and Hilary Ford added two points each.

The Webster squad had to battle through the losers’ bracket on Sunday to capture the state championship. Webster got a little revenge against Hopkinsville in Sunday’s first game, topping the Lady Tigers 36-26.

Brooke Ross had the hot hand with 11 points, followed by six points from Hailey Ford and five from Heather Eblen. Kolbi Edens and Taylor Berry scored four points each while Hilary Ford added three. Jessica Schindley added two points and one from Aleshia Stone.

Webster then ripped the Henderson Maroon squad by 10 points, 30-20 in the first championship game.

Brooke Ross led the way with 12 points while Hailey Ford scored seven, Taylor Berry six and Hilary Ford five.

Webster, playing in their fourth game of the day, slipped past that same Henderson Maroon squad in a thrilling, 41-40 double-overtime finale.

Ross again was on fire, pouring in 12 points while Hailey Ford added eight. Aleisha Stone finished with five points while Hilary Ford, Jessica Schindley and Taylor Berry scored four points each. Heather Eblen added two points while Jessica White and Kaylyn Winders scored one point each.
