Services for James “Jim” Merle Loehr, 86, of Slaughters, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Sebree. Father Jason McClure officiated, with burial in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree, where full military rites were performed.
He died at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at Western KY Veterans Center in Hanson.
A native of Ashbyburg, he was a lifelong farmer and World War II veteran, where he earned several commendations including a Bronze Star. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and American Legion Post 243.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Schnapf Loehr; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lea Ann and Greg Sugg, and Linda and Sonny Shelton; a brother, Kenneth Loehr; a sister, Mildred Stippler; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Tomblinson Funeral Home in Sebree was in charge of arrangements.
