Services for Gertrude Cary Stephens, 88, of Evansville, IN, were conduced at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel in Evansville, IN. Herbert Hope officiated, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

She died at 11:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at Angel River Health and Rehabilitation in Newburgh, IN.

A native of Webster County, she was a member of Evansville United Christian Fellowship Church and taught Bible school.

Survivors include a daughter, Sonda Mathis and husband, Larry of Henderson; two sisters, Mable Ottens and husband, John, and Mary Lou Johnson and husband, Edwin, both of Sebree; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
