Job fair planned in Henderson

Hundreds of job seekers are expected to attend the fourth annual “Job Quest Job Fair,” set for Wednesday, Oct. 22, at the Henderson Fine Arts Center.

Some 20 firms are expected to be at the job fair, which is open to all, especially those living in Union, Webster, McLean, and Henderson counties.

Employers planning to attend so far include the city of Henderson, the Earle C. Clements Job Corps Academy, Audubon Metals, Sykes Enterprises, Redbanks, Titan Contracting, Columbia Sportswear, Morganfield Nursing and Rehab, Staff Partners, Colonial Terrace, Alliance Coal, Medco Center, the Henderson Detention Center, Methodist Hospital, Pittsburg Tank and Tower, and Aflac.

The job fair attracted nearly 500 job applicants last year.

Job Quest will take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center, on the campus of Henderson Community College.

“Job seekers should come prepared to meet with employers, dressed appropriately for interviews,” said HCC’s Mona Bloodworth in an news release. “If they have a resume´, they should bring several copies of it. If they do not have a resume, there will be computers and staff available to assist in developing a resume´.

“The computers will also be available for anyone (who) wants to register for work through the (state) Office of Employment and Training, as well as to enter... information in the Northwest Kentucky Works database,” she added.
