Billy Owen Mitchell


Billy Owen Mitchell, 76, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Baptist Health Madisonville.

He was born in Madisonville, KY on July 30, 1941 to the late Ruby Owen Mitchell and Velma Franklin Mitchell of Dawson Springs, KY.  

Mr. Mitchell enjoyed Nascar. 

He was retired after 38 years from Dotiki Mines where he had worked as a Mine Superintendent, Foreman, and Face Boss. He was known as “Mr. Dotiki” 

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Frommel and his brother, Kenneth Mitchell.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Wanda Mitchell of Dawson Springs, KY; his  two daughters: Kathy Jones of Madisonville, KY, Stephanie Lockhart and her husband, Gordon, of Dawson Springs, KY; his son, Scotty Mitchell and his wife, Britney, of Princeton, KY; two sisters: Linda Howton and her husband, Donnie, of Nebo, KY, Wanda Brown and her husband, Don, of Madisonville, KY; one brother, Garry Mitchell and his wife, Kathy, of Dawson Springs, KY; six grandchildren : Jennifer Phillips, Kasey Alexander, Traci Earl, Logan Lockhart, Molly Mitchell, and Ally Mitchell; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00am at Beulah Crossroads Baptist Church in Beulah, KY with Bro. Ronnie Cullen officiating and Donny Howton assisting with burial to follow at Dunn Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Beulah Crossroads Baptist Church in Beulah, KY and from 9:00 am until service time on Friday at the church.

Pallbearers will be: Garlan Gibson, Danny Fuson, Bobby Shoulders, Jimmy Fred Martin, Bobby Brown, and Bobby Daniel.
