A resident of Beulah in rural Hopkins County was behind bars on Monday after officers located drugs and concealed weapons following a routine traffic stop.

PPD says that at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Monday, officer Jay Riley Edwards noticed a vehicle being operated by Collin Ray Utley, 23 of Beulah, traveling on North Broadway in Providence with no hood and broken windows. Edwards ran a check on the vehicle and found that it was registered to Utley, who had suspended driver’s licesne.

During the stop, officers noticed a Ruger 9mm concealed in Utley’s jeans, and a large fixed blade knife in the small of his back. Further search of the vehicle located a bag of suspected methamphetamine and a glass meth pipe in the glove compartment.

Utley was arrested and transported to the Webster County Detention Center. He was charged with possession of meth (firearms enhanced), possession of drug paraphernalia and operating on a suspended/revoked license.
