A tip about possible illegal activity in the parking lot of Ware Trucking in Providence led to the arrest of two individuals on drug charges on Nov. 27.

Chief Todd Jones reported that as he and Officer Isaac Frias arrived on the scene at 8:50 a.m., David L Scarbrough, 59 of Burna (Crittenden County), was attempting to leave. Officers stopped him for questioning and discovered that he was in possession of a container with a baggie inside that was suspected to contain methamphetamine.

A second suspect, Mark Menser, 49 of Providence, was present along with Doyle Ware, the owner of Ware Trucking.

Menser was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine that was hidden in a hollowed out container disguised as a large bolt. In addition, he had items of paraphernalia in his possession including two syringes.

Menser and Scarbrough were both arrested and transported to the Webster County Detention Center.

Ware was not charged.

Scarbrough told police that he had previously been in trouble for multiple felony drug convictions and was unsure if he was

currently on unsupervised probation through circuit court or not.

He was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st degree (Meth) 3rd or greater offenses. In addition to traffic violations, minor marijuana charges, prescription drugs offences, shoplifting, theft and Drug Paraphernalia related charges, his record also includes Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Meth), Possession Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Multiple Offenses), Possession Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Fleeing or Evading Police, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun and multiple DUIs.

Menser was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st degree (Meth) 2nd Offense and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Previous charges against him include Possession of Controlled Substance 1st, Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd, Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd, Manufacturing Meth (Complicity), Cultivating Marijuana 5 or more plants (Complicity), Promoting Contraband 1st Degree, Promoting Contraband 2nd Degree, multiple DUIs, Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st (3 Times), Trafficking Controlled Substance 2nd (Attempt), Trafficking Marijuana (Attempt), Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree and being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
