Meeting in a special called meeting on Monday, members of the Webster County Fiscal Court approved a new phone and internet contract for the Webster County Detention Center.

Jailer Morgan McKinely told the court that Charter Spectrum was on site to update the jail's television service to digital, when the cable provider proposed also updating the phone and internet service. The new service will cost the county approximately $120 more per month, but will increase their internet speed from 7mbs to 100mbs.

McKinley said that will be very helpful when it comes to internet-based teleconference hearings that are held at the detention center. Magistrates voted unanimously to approve the decision.

The updated television service will not cost the county any additional funds. The money for that service comes from internet commissary funds.
