Parades and other events to highlight Christmas in Webster County

The third annual Sebree Christmas Parade was held on Saturday night, marking the official start to the 2018 holiday season in Webster County. 

Festivities will continue throughout the month, starting with the courthouse tree lighting ceremony, which will be held on the courthouse lawn Thursday night at 6:00 p.m.

On Friday, the Festival of Trees, sponsored by the Providence Tourism Commission, will get underway inside the former Baynham’s building on Broadway in Providence. The event will feature trees decorated by businesses and organizations from around the community, and will be open to the public Friday and Saturday, 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., this weekend and next.

Tourism will also host a tree lighting ceremony in the Providence Uptown Mini Park on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The event will feature caroling, hot chocolate and cookies.

The Clay Christmas Parade will be held on Friday, December 7, at 6:00 p.m.

For the second year the tourism commission will bring ice skating to the Providence City Park. This year bumper cars and a virtual roller coaster will be added to the free festivities.

Hours for the activities will be Friday, December 7, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Saturday, December 8, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Sunday, December 9, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

The Providence Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 8, at 5:00 p.m. A meet and greet with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be held at the pavilion in the city park following the parade.
