A traffic stop by Providence Police Chief Todd Jones on Monday landed a Providence man behind bars on meth charges.

In a press release, Jones stated that he noticed a vehicle with expired registration and a loud exhaust traveling on South Willow Street ar around 2 p.m. on Monday. Upon conducting a routine stop, he said that the driver, Brandon Wayne Greer, 33 of Providence, began acting nervous and ignored directions to keep his hands on the steering wheel.

Jones said Greer told him he was a drug court graduate and no longer used drugs as he consented to a search of his vehicle and person. That search reportedly almost immediately located a container of meth in Greer’s front pants pocket.

“Mr. Greer acknowledge that it was meth and that he was still using, even after Drug Court,” Jones reported.

Greer was arrested and charged with possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, no/expired registration plate, failure to transfer a motor vehicle and inadequate vehicle silencer.
