Providence mayor Doug Hammers administered the oath of office to a pair of new Providence police officers on Monday, bringing the compliment of the city’s police force to four officers plus police chief Todd Jones.
Patrolmen Eric Elder and Jay Riley Edwards join the department, which already includes patrolmen Carl Scheer and Isaac Frias. All four officers are Webster County natives, which Jones said was his goal in hiring for the department.
“The number one attribute we need is good quality men and women,” Jones said at the swearing-in ceremony. “My goal in hiring was to find people who are vested in the community they will be serving.”
