With Christmas quickly approaching, the Providence Fire Department Toys for Tots program is still looking for donations to fulfill this year’s toy needs.

Chairman Keith Farrell said efforts are underway to provide toys to the approximately 400 Webster County children who will be on this year’s list. He added that support is needed from throughout the county as children from all communities benefit from this program.

Toy drop-off locations include the Providence Fire Department, Independence Bank in Providence, Planters Bank in Providence and the  city buildings in Providence, Clay and Dixon. Also helping in this effort is the Marine Corps Toys For Tots program which has drop boxes at Family Dollar in Providence and Dollar General Stores in Providence, Clay and Dixon. Monetary donations can be taken to the Providence Fire Department or mailed to Toys For Tots c/o Keith Farrell, 611 Maple Street, Providence, Kentucky 42450.

Anyone interested in making a donation has a short time left to do so. Funds are needed to ensure that every child on our list will have at least three new toys this Christmas. A final big push will help this drive be a success again this year. Organizers want to thank those who have been generous thus far and urge others to partner with Toys For Tots so smiles can be put on local kids faces on Christmas. Toys will be distributed on Friday, December 21 at 4:00 p.m. at the Providence Community Center. All families on the list should pick up their toys at that time. There will be no deliveries..
