Pastor Dwight Young

Pastor Dwight Young of Providence, Ky. entered into his eternal rest on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, at the Tradewater Nursing Facility in Dawson Springs, Ky.

He was the first born child of Shirley Young and the late Seamon Herrin. He has five sisters (LaVerne Chester, Phyllis Redd, Daphne Couch, Connie Wade (deceased) and Teresa Young) and one brother (Tony Young).

Pastor Young was the father of three children: Sheena Baker, Bridget Young and Damien Young and he has five grandchildren, Chaz Breedlove, Jaden Young, Tiarrah Young, Damien Young Jr., and Audrina Young and three great grandchildren.

He was called into the ministry in 1983 and entered Baptist Theological Seminary in Nashville, Tennessee where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology.

Dwight had a heart for children in distress and as a result he held positions in Nashville as a wildness coordinator, teacher, and case manager for the State of Tennessee’s children services.

He was a faithful member of Providence Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served for three years as the pastor. He also served as the pastor of the Carr’s Chapel in Morganfield, Ky.

His graveside service will be held at the Williams Lawn Cemetery in Providence, Ky. on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at noon.
