Rev. Kermit L. Berry, 84, of Providence, KY, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday September 17, 2021 at his residence.

He was born May 10, 1937 in Miami, FL, to the late Harry George Berry and Leona Mae Whitney Berry. He was also preceded in death by four siblings.

Kermit was a disabled, 13 year U.S. veteran and served in the Army for 9 years and the Air Force for 4 years. He served as a Deacon at White Oak General Baptist Church for 11 years and as a volunteer Chaplain at the Region Medical Center in Madisonville for 17 years. He was ordained in 1992 and was a pastor for several General Baptist churches in the area for 25 years. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1983.

Rev. Kermit held 2 degrees from Murray State University — a Bachelors in Education and a Masters in School Administration. He was employed by the Education division of the Singer Company for 23 years and became Director of several Job Corps Centers throughout the Eastern United States. He was a volunteer High School coach for football, track, and wrestling here in the United States and overseas in the Dependant school systems.

He is survived by his wife, of 65 years, Virginia Lou Kelley Berry; one son, Keith Dwayne (Patricia) Berry of Rumsey; daughter, Robbie Leigh (Larry) Jones of Madisonville; 6 grandchildren, Kelley Sutton, Lindi Jo West, Chase Berry, Stephen Bradley, Austin Bradley, and Alysha Tilly; 4 great grandchildren, Whitney Morgan, Daniel Bradley, Bristol Tilley, and Noah Bradley.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 20, 2021 at White Oak General Baptist Church with Bro. Greg Duncan and Bro. Barry Cullen officiating. Burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 A.M. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
