Ricky Lee Franklin, 68 of Providence, KY passed away on Wednesday June, 2, 2021 at his home in Providence.

Mr. Franklin was born in Madisonville, KY on January 18, 1953, the son of Mary Lou Curneal Franklin and the late William C. Franklin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Franklin in 2017, and one brother, Jeffrey Franklin.

Mr. Franklin served his country for 20 years in the United States Navy attaining the rank of E7 or Chief Petty Officer he was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy ā€œEā€ Ribbon, Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and he was a lifelong member of the VFW Jack McDowell Post # 5484 in Providence.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Amy Franklin of Providence, KY; three sisters, Debra (Doug) Sheperd of Dawson Springs, KY; Susan (Robert) Sisk of Nortonville, KY; Anna (Steven) Pidcock of Harrodsburg, KY; two brothers, Mark (Connie) Faughender of Madisonville, KY; Jason (Christie) Franklin of Providence, KY; two grandchildren, Winter Thomas and Alexander Morgan.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 8, 2021 at 1:00PM in the Lucille Melton Memorial Chapel at Melton Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until the service hour at the funeral home.

Military graveside services will be performed by the United Sates Navy assisted by the Hopkins County Honor Guard.
