Webster County High School’s archery team finished runner-up Saturday in the Hopkins County Central Storm Classic, coming in a little over 100 points behind first place.
The Trojans ended the day with 3.226 points, while meet champion Madisonville-North Hopkins turned in an overall score of 3.337. The Maroons connected on 175 tens to WCHS’s 127.
Host Central was 3rd with 3,194 points and 122 bullseyes, followed in 4th place by Union County with 2,949 points and 58 tens.
Avery Guill led the way for Webster with a 4th place finish in the high school competition of 58 archers. She fired a 285 with 16 tens, which also placed her 4th overall among 230 female entrants.
Abigail Laughary took 7th in the high school girls’ division with a 281 and 15 tens. She was 8th among all female shooters.
Conner Corbett paced the boys’ ranks for WCHS, finishing with a 276 and 10 bullseyes, good for 5th in the field of 58 high school males. He was 7th on the list of 271 boys’ archers in the meet.
Alaina Brown turned in the final top 10 performance in the tournament for Webster. Her 276 with 10 tens earned her the 10th spot among high school females.

Middle School
Webster County Middle School’s archery team was just a score of points away from a podium finish at the Storm Classic. The Trojans ended the meet with 3,074 points, 24 behind 3rd-place Henderson County North’s 3,098.
Henderson County South won the meet with 3,162 points, and James Madison took the runner-up spot with 3,122.
Breona Benson earned another top finish for Webster, firing a 282 with 16 tens to claim the overall middle school meet champion in a field of 130 girls. She was the fifth-best overall among all 240 female archers.
Emma Harmon and Kalysta Pryor also took top 10 honors for WCMS, coming in 6th and 10th, respectively. Harmon shot a 269 with 11 tens, while Pryor finished with 263 and 6 bullseyes.
