Carlee Drury and Avery Guill nearly matched each other shot for shot on Saturday, as the two led Webster County’s archery team to a runner-up finish in the Colonel Classic in Henderson.
The Trojans finished with a team total of 3.220 points with 114 tens in the tournament.
Henderson County won the meet with 3.363 points and 175 bull’s-eyes, while Hopkins County Central was third with 3.175 points and 117 tens.
Drury and Guill each posted 17 tens on the day, but Drury edged her teammate with 284 points to Guill’s 283. The duo finished in 6th and 7th place, respectively, out of 58 high school girls. They claimed the same positions overall among 164 female entrants.
Conner Corbett led all boys archers for Webster with a 276 behind 12 tens. He finished in 5th place out of 56 high school male shooters, and 8th overall on the list of 183 male competitors.
Bryce Stinchcomb was just two points behind his teammate, scoring 274 points with 12 tens. He earned a 7th place finish in the high school ranks, and 11th along all males.

Middle School
Kalysta Pryor and Breona Benson took the top two spots in the girls’ middle school competition, leading the WCMS first team to a 3rd place finish.
The second team finished 5th.
The first team scored 3.095 points with 92 tens, while the second team posted 2,736 points and 50 tens.

Henderson County South won the tournament with 3,133 points and 86 tens, while Henderson County North was runner-up with 3,120 points and 96 tens.
Pryor was the overall individual archer out of 76 competitors with a finish of 273 points and 11 tens.
Benson was the overall runner-up, scoring 273 points with 9 tens.
Dan Wiley was Webster’s third best shooter, firing a 270 and 10 tens for a 5th place outing among 58 male entrants.
Hannah Clark also gave WCMS a top ten performance with a 269 and 8 tens, good for 4th place.
Wesley Alexander was 8th in the middle school boys’ division with a 266 and 9 tens, while Drake Guill wrapped up top 10 finishes with 10th in the boys competition behind a 261 and 10 tens.

Avery Guill also made a solo trip south to Madisonville on Saturday to compete in the South Hopkins Middle School Wildcat Classic.
The Trojan freshman shot a 292 with 23 tens to take the overall top spot in the tournament.
Sebree Elementary was also in Madisonville. The Red Devils finished third out of three elementary teams in the event. They were led by Abby Langston who shot a 262 and eight tens to top all elementary girls, and finished 22 out of 184 girls at the meet.
