The Lady Trojans opened their 2021 basketball season on the road Monday night against the Apollo Lady E-Gals in Owensboro.

The Lady E-Gals outscored the Lady Trojans 17-13 during the first quarter and 10-9 in the second to take a 5 point lead at halftime with the score 27-22.

The Lady Trojans would outscore the Lady E-Gals 19-18 in the third period, to cut Apollo’s lead by one to 45-41. In the fourth and final quarter the Lady Trojans would outscore the Lady E-Gals 14-10to tie the score at 55-55 at the end of regulation. In overtime, the Lady E-Gals would outscore the Lady Trojans 11-6 to take a five point win in overtime with the score being 66-61 as the Lady Trojans would fall to 0-1 on the season.

The leading scorer for the Lady Trojans was junior forward Raigan Price with 18 points while shooting 5 for 6 from the free throw line. Junior forward Mary Kate Rakestraw tallied 15 points while sophomore guard Brooklyn Clark scored 12 points while knocking down 2 three pointers. Senior forward Adeline McDyer contributed 9 points while shooting 2 for 2 from the free throw line on the night. Sophomore guard Katelyn Cates added 5 points while junior forward Sydney Shoulders added 2 points.

As a team, the Lady Trojans shot 9 for 16 from the free throw line while also knocking down 5 three pointers.

The Lady Trojans played last night against the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm but that was after press time.
