Webster County rose to its highest ranking ever in school history as the Lady Trojans climbed to ninth in the Kentucky Coaches Association Poll, but the Lady Trojans also experienced a couple of setbacks this past week to First Region contenders McCracken County and Marshall County while recording a 6-4 win over Calloway County.

The Lady Trojans played Henderson County for the 6th District title on Tuesday night, but the conclusion of that game was after press time. Regardless Webster will host and participate in the 2nd Region Tournament this upcoming week as the Lady Trojans are in pursuit of their first region title in school history.

Webster County jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the road at McCracken County on Thursday night, but the Lady Trojans were outscored by the 8th-ranked Lady Mustangs 10-2 the rest of the game in a 10-5 loss in Paducah on Thursday night.

The Lady Trojans and Lady Mustangs both slugged out 13 hits in the game, but McCracken County capitalized on two Webster errors while nabbing the Lady Trojans at the plate twice to help get the victory.

Grace Scott took the loss inside the circle but was near perfect at the plate for Webster County, going 4-for-4 with two doubles to drive in one run for the Lady Trojans. Madison Durbin and Karlie Keeney each added two singles for the Lady Trojans while Gracie Thomas and Jade Jerome each slugged a double--Jerome also plating one runner.

Webster County pounded out nine hits against Marshall County, but the Lady Trojans were unable to string those hits together and plate runners in a 1-0 shutout loss to the Lady Marshals on Saturday afternoon.

Marshall County scored what would prove to be the winning run in the top of the first on an RBI double by Addie Young before keeping the Lady Trojans off the scoreboard the rest of the way to get the victory.

Kerstin Braden led Webster in the loss with a single and double while Karlie Keeney added a pair of singles. Kayla Yates, Hadlee Carter, Grace Scott, Gracie Thomas, and Sydney Shoulders each tallied a base hit, and Keeney and Rylee Warford each drew a walk as well.

Webster left Braden stranded at second to end the game after the senior led off the bottom of the seventh with a double as the Lady Trojans left eight runners on base, including five in scoring position.
