The Lady Trojans’ season came to an end last Tuesday night in the opening round of the 6th District Tournament in Henderson against Union County. Webster County headed into the post season minus their top scorer, who was injured late in the season.

The Bravettes jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter, outscoring the Lady Trojans 10-6, but Webster County would battle back in the second period, outpacing Union County 11-4 to take a slim 3 point lead into the locker room.

In the fourth quarter the Bravettes would outscore the Lady Trojans 15-11, handing the Lady Trojans their 12th loss of the season with the final score being 49-44.

The leading scorer for the Lady Trojans was sophomore guard Katelyn Cates with 18 points while knocking down 4 three pointers and shooting 2 for 2 from the free throw line on the night. Sophomore guard Brooklyn Clark tallied 9 points while knocking down 2 three pointers while senior forward Adeline McDyer contributed 7 points. Junior forward Sydney Shoulders scored 5 points while junior forward Mary Kate Rakestraw added 4 points. To round out the scoring for the Lady Trojans, junior guard Madison Hinton tallied 1 point on the night.

As a team, the Lady Trojans knocked down 7 three pointers and shot 5 for 9 from the free throw line on the night.

The Lady Trojans finish the season with a 9-12 record, the first losing season for Webster County since the 2010-11 season in which the Lady Trojans went (9-14) with Christina Wells as the Head Coach.

Despite missing the last four games of the season after being injured during the Lady Trojans game against Graves County, Raigan Price managed to lead the Lady Trojans in scoring this season with a total of 219 points. She was followed by Brooklyn Clark, who missed the four of the last five games of the season after being injured during their game against Grayson County. Clark posted 184 points this season.

Webster had three other players to finish the season in triple digits. Adeline McDyer posted 140 points, with Katelyn Cates scoring 138 and Mary Kate Rakestraw scoring 110.

McDyer, along with Mariah Autin who was injured early in the season, were the Lady Trojans’ only seniors.
