For the fourth year in a row, the Webster County girls’ cross-country team finished on the podium in the Class AA First Region meet when they claimed 2nd Saturday in Cadiz.

The finish earned the Lady Trojans a trip to the state championship meet Friday at Bourbon County Park in Paris. The race is scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm local time in Paris, 3:00 pm Central Time.

“We have qualified every year but one I believe since I have been coaching,” said head coach Brandye Whitsell. “We are regional runner up so we will be running at state meet on Friday. Girls all ran a personal record and put up an amazing fight for the regional title we just came up 5 points shy.”

WCHS finished just five points off first place in the meet. The Lady Trojans compiled 34 team points on individual scores of 3, 4, 8, 9, and 10. The team average was 22:15.

Calloway County won the team title with 29 points, and Trigg County was 3rd with 64 points.

Mayci Moore continued to be the top runner for Webster, earning a podium spot in 3rd with a time of 21:25.46.

Reese Settle won the individual title with a time of 20:31.00, while her teammate, Addison Jennings, was 2nd in 20:50.06.

All of the Lady Trojans’ scorers finished in the top 10 in the race.

Reece Powell crossed the finish line in 4th place with a time of 21:40.63.

Drue Wyatt was 8th with a clocking of 22:16.20, and Ryleigh Powell followed in 9th in 22:56.26. Grayson Haynes claimed 10th place, and the final scoring spot for WCHS, in 23:01.77.

Running outside the scoring for Webster were Ava Stone in 12th with a time of 23:15.71, and Delani Basket in 20th with 24:50.23 on the clock.
