Webster County’s girls cross-country team ran against an 11-team field, packed with 117 individual runners Saturday in the annual Kentucky-Indiana Border Clash held in Owensboro. The Lady Trojans ended the day in third place among Kentucky teams, and eighth place overall.
Webster accumulated 200 team points with individual scores of 23, 41, 42, 44, and 50 among its scoring members.
WCHS earned its best finish from 8th-grader Mayci Moore, who claimed 25th with a time of 23:27:37. Moore was one of eight middle school runners in the meet, and finished second among that group. Only Isabella Ross of Hancock County finished better in 23:04.58.
Reece Powell and Ryleigh Powell again ran evenly for the Lady Trojans, coming in 50th and 51st, respectively. Reece ran the course in 25;13.07, while Ryleigh trailed shortly after in 25:29.61.
Grayson Haynes followed the sisters closely, finishing in 25:40.44 for a 55th-place timing.
Drue Wyatt rounded out the WCHS scoring with a 62nd-place clocking of 26:04.85.
Three runners ran but were not included in the Lady Trojans’ team score: Ava Stone finished 91st in 28:27.28; Delani Baskett finished 97th in 29:19.82; and Caila Clary finished 101st in 30:15.10.
Daviess County led all Kentucky teams in the meet with a 2nd-place team total of 39 points, and saw four of its five scorers cross the finish line in the top ten (2, 7, 8, 9, 13). The Lady Panthers registered a time of 1:45.07.02 on the day.
Grayson County was the third-best Kentucky entrant in the meet, ending the meet with a 4th-place time of 2:03:31.88 and 171 team points (17, 27, 31, 35, 61).
Hopkinsville took 9th place with a team total of 202 points (6, 34, 36, 62,64) and a time of 2:06:31.88.
Jasper (IN) High School topped the field with a team score of 31, with all of its scoring runners crossing the finish line in the top eleven spots (1, 4, 5, 10, 11). The Lady Wildcats clocked the 1st-place time of 1:43:26.44.
Jasper Andi VanMeter led the field individually with a time of 19:32.55.
Daviess County’s Lucy Spew was the top Kentucky runner in second with a 19:35.10 finish.
The Lady Trojans are scheduled to run in the Madisonville Classic Saturday.
