Webster County’s boys golf team claimed the top spot in a tri-match Aug. 16. The Trojans hosted second region foes Union County and Hopkins County Central at Providence Municipal Golf Course.
WCHS posted a team score of 145, five strokes better than either of their opponents, who tied at 150.
Cade McCully led the Trojans in the win, firing a 42 on the afternoon.
Gentry Jones also came in under 50 strokes, carding a 46 in the match.
Cade Howell rounded out Webster’s scoring with a 57.
Also playing for WCHS, but not included in the scoring, were Evan Moore with a 70, and Elijah Preston at 73.
The Trojans played the next day at Mineral Mound State Park in Eddyville, facing off against host Lyon County and Crittenden County.
McCully placed second in the match with a 41.
Gentry Jones added a 52 to the WCHS scorecard, and Cade Howell fired a 59 on the day.
Team results were not available for the match.
Webster County had played the two teams on August 10 at Deer Lakes Golf Course in Salem, where Livingston Central played host in the quad-match.
Cade McCully’s 44 led the Trojans on the scorecard.
Gentry Jones and Micah Austin both came in with 50 on the day, and Cade Howell added a 61 to the team total of 206.

The Trojans are scheduled to host Crittenden County in a dual match Thursday at Providence.
