The Webster County Trojans picked up their first district win of the season during that lone baseball game of the week, knocking off the Union County Braves 3-1 on the road in a game where they out hit their district rivals 7-3.

The game was scoreless through the first two innings, until Taylor Chandler hit a ground ball single to drive in Jackson Edens in the top of the third. The Trojans would add two more in the fourth to take a 3-0 lea, before the Braves put up their only run of the day in the bottom of the fourth to make the final score 3-1.

Landon Braden pitched the complete game for the Trojans, striking out four and giving up no earned runs on his way to the victory. He only allowed three hits in the contest.

Chandler went two-for -three from the plate, collecting one RBI, while Braden was two-for-four with a pair of RBIs. Dylan Sowders, Ben Blanford and Zach Meadors each had one hit.

Edens continues to lead the Trojans in hitting with 21, while Braden is in second place with 17. The pair are hitting .396 and .395 on the season.

Braden also leads all Trojans pitchers who’ve put in double ditgits on the mound with an ERA of 1.145. He has struck out 11 and given up 11 hits and just three earned runs through 18.1 innings, while collecting two wins and no losses.
