The Webster County Trojans opened up the preseason in a scrimmage against Carlisle County on Saturday.
The Trojans opened up with a 22-11 lead at the end of the first quarter against the Comets. In the second quarter, Webster and Carlisle scored 16 points each to head to the half with the Trojans leading 38-27.
WCHS opened the second half by outscoring the Carlisle 18-10 to take a 56-37 by the end of the third quarter. In the fourth and final quarter the Trojans once again outscored the Comets 14-8 to give the Trojans the win 72-45.
Junior Destin Allen led the Trojans in scoring with 24 points while making 3 of his 4 free throw attempts. Senior point guard Tyler Camplin tallied 17 points and sanke two three pointers. Junior Hunter McNaughton added 13 points and made three three-pointers. Senior forward Zane Coy scored seven points and senior forward Aden Winn added six. Juniors Grant Warren and Kale Bumpus both added two points each. Sophomore Aaron Harmon made a free throw in the second quarter to round out the scoring for the Trojans.
As a team, the Trojans hit seven of 13 from the free throw line and made seven three pointers. The leading scorers for Carlisle County was senior guard Reese Anderson with 23 points three three pointers and sophomore forward Isiah Keeling tallied 11 points.
In the preseason 2nd Region boys basketball media poll, the Webster County Trojans are ranked 8th out of the top 10 teams in the region. With the regular season right around the corner, the Webster County Trojans participated in their second scrimmage last night at Paducah Tilghman but that game was after press time.
The Trojans will open the regular season on December 3rd at home against Hopkins County Central.
