Webster County Trojans Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 13-3 loss to Crittenden County last Tuesday night.

The Rockets took a 3-0 lead in the opening stanza, but the Trojans answered in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single from Clayton Buchanan to make the score 3-1.

But Crittenden would add three more in the second frame and one in the fourth to extend their lead to 7-1. Webster added a pair in the bottom of the fifth, but it wasn’t enough as the Rockets drove in three more in each the sixth and seventh innings for a 13-3 final score.

Clayton Buchanan, Logan Erickson and Ethan Clayton each had one hit in the game.

Heath Price took the loss for Webster. Through an inning and a half he gave up four hits and allowed six earned runs while striking out two.

Drake Villines gave up three earned runs through four innings and Landon Black allowed three unearned runs in one inning on the mound.

Both teams Webster and Madisonville-North were strong on the mound on Thursday, but the Maroons were just a little bit stronger at the plate. Thomas Geary started the game for the Trojans, picking up the loss despite allowing just two earned runs.

A double by Clayton Buchanan in the bottom of third gave Webster the lead at 1-0, but Madisonville would answer with a two run homer in the top of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead.

That would be the final runs of the game, with the Maroons holding on to claim the win.

Logan Erickson had Webster’s only hit of the game.

Pitching in relief of Geary, Erickson would give up just three hits through three innings and allowed no runs.
