Trevor Baker took the top podium spot Saturday, and Webster County’s boys cross-country team took 2nd place at the McCracken County Cross-Country Invitational in Paducah.

Baker ran a meet-best 17:08.82 to claim his second 1st-place finish of the season and third podium appearance in the first four meets.

The Trojan senior edged out McCracken County’s Jake Crittenden for the win. Crittenden crossed the finish line in 17:11.22.

Garrett West gave WCHS the other podium run, coming in 3rd with a time of 17:27.79. It is the second top 3 finish for West on the season, and the second time he has combined for a 1st and 3rd finish with Baker in 2021.

Layden Wagoner turned in a top 10 finish for Webster, taking 6th with 17:53.41 on the clock.

Aiden Whitsell registered a 13th place run with a time of 18:41.52, and Bryce Nelson rounded out the WCHS scorecard with a time of 20:05.45 and 28th place finish.

Liam Farris ran outside the scoring spots in 32nd in 20:20.77.

The Trojans finished with 51 team points with position scores of 1, 3, 6, 13, and 28. Their average time was 18:15.

McCracken County claimed the team meet title with 46 points (2, 4, 8, 9, 23). Muhlenberg County came in 3 with 58 points (5, 10, 11, 15, 17).

There were 11 teams and 90 runners in the meet.

The Trojans are scheduled to run in the Mustang Stampede Saturday. The meet will be hosted by Muhlenberg County at the high school’s East Campus located at 2900 State Route 176 in Greenville. The boys’ varsity run is set to begin at 9:45 am.
