Webster County’s boys’ tennis team swept Ft. Campbell, and the girls’ squad lost just one match Thursday on the road.
The Trojans claimed a 7-0 victory at FCHS, while the Lady Trojans notched a 5-1 win. It was the first match of the season with a full complement of competitors for the boys’ team.
Leo Vazquez claimed the #1 seed match, 8-3, over the Eagles’ top player, Derrick Loar.
Reid Davenport fought off a tough opponent in Alec Rhodes to win the #2 seed tilt, 8-5.
Cade Howell dispatched Brock Sharp in straight games in the #3 seed pairing, claiming an 8-0 sweep. Miles Frailey followed in the #4 seed match by defeating Alecsy Esty, 8-1. Weston Wint closed out the singles’ matches with a straight game 8-0 win over Aaron Anderson.
In doubles action, Davenport and Frailey were 8-3 victors over the FCHS team of Loar and Rhodes in the #1 seed match. Howell paired with Ashton Brown in the #2 seed pairing to defeat Sharp and Ety, 8-1.
The Lady Trojans took straight game victories in the #1 and #2 seed matches.
Allison Meisel took the 8-0 win in the lead pairing over Lauren Anderson.
Sara Welshans followed suit in the #2 contest, knocking out Alex Stearns in an 8-0 effort.
Maggie Jones dropped just one game in her 8-1 win over Isabella Espinoza in the #3 seed match, while Brooklyn Whitledge dropped the #4 seed pairing against Adrianna Cuestas, 8-2.
Allie Newman and Maggie White were winners in the #1 seed doubles match, defeating Anderson and Stearns, 8-2.
Kimberly Shelton and Brylee Whitledge capped the team victory by taking the #2 seed pairing from Espinoza and Cuestas, 8-3.
The scheduled Friday match with University Heights was postponed due to several players being out.

The Webster County girls’ tennis team took three matches against Henderson County, and the boys claimed two, but both squads suffered losses at HCHS.
The Lady Trojans finished 3-6 against HCHS, and the boys fell 2-7.
Maggie Jones was the sole winner in the singles matches, defeating Cameron Chandler, 8-3, in the #3 seed pairing.
In doubles, the #1 seed team of Jones and Allison Meisel were 6-4, 6-4 victors over the Lady Colonels’ duo of Chandler and Merrick Conkwright.
The lady Trojans also posted a win in the #2 seed doubles match, as Sara Welshans and Allie Newman were 6-4, 6-1 victors over Abby Gibson and Nora St. Pierce.
Winners on the boys’ scorecard for Webster both came in singles matches.
Reid Davenport was a 7-5, 6-0 winner over Thomas Berger in the #2 seed match.
Miles Frailey claimed the #4 seed singles pairing, defeating Jaxton Duncan, 8-5.

The tennis teams traveled to Hopkinsville Tuesday after press time, and will wrap up the week Thursday at Madisonville-North Hopkins. They will return to action after spring break for their first home match of the season against Caldwell County, April 12.
