Webster County’s boys golf team tallied another match win last Thursday, defeating Union County, 128-139, at Providence Municipal Golf Course.
It was the second time this season that WCHS defeated the Braves on the links. The first win came in a three-team outing that also included Hopkins County Central.
The Trojans shaved 17 strokes off their team total from that match, and they continue to show improvement in individual play as the season progresses.
Cade McCully was the medalist on the afternoon, striking a two-over par 38 in the nine-hole competition.
Micah Austin finished with a 44 against Union County, and Gentry Jones completed the Webster scorecard with a 46.
Elijah Preston paced the non-scoring players for WCHS, shooting a 63 on the day. Cade Howell followed with a 65, and Evan Moore turned in a 68.
The Trojans have a busy slate this week, with a tri-match scheduled on the road against Hopkins Central and Caldwell Tuesday after press time. They will follow that with a trip to Christian County Thursday, and will compete in the Muhlenberg County Invitational Saturday.
