Webster County played its home and season opener on Monday night against Caldwell County, and history was on the Lady Tigers' side going into the match as Caldwell had a 15-0 all-time record against Webster coming into Dixon.
The Lady Tigers continued that trend on Monday night as Caldwell limited Webster to just six shots at the goal on the way to a 6-1 victory.
Caldwell scored the first two goals of the game before Abbie Michalek put Webster on the board with four minutes left in the first half. The Lady Tigers answered with a goal about a minute later to hold a 3-1 lead at the break, and Caldwell tallied three more in the second half while holding Webster scoreless in the final 40 minutes.
Kaylee McEnaney led Caldwell with two goals while Lucy Goffinet, Kelsie Adams, Abby Hagan, and Kendall Boyd each found the back of the net once.
Webster County will look to bounce back on Monday night as the Lady Trojans travel to Marion to face Crittenden County. The Lady Trojans have won the last seven games against the Lady Rockets--the last Crittenden win in the series coming on Sept. 12, 2015 in Dixon.
